International Women's Day 2026: Give To Gain
IWD is on the 8th March. Let's talk about the theme.
The theme this International Women’s Day is Give To Gain. The theme emphasises a need to grow together.
“Give To Gain emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it's intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.” - International Women’s Day
Everyone has something to share or give. This could be knowledge, time, donations, resources, visibility, support, allyship, advocacy, time or respect.
The day is a chance to reflect upon what we all currently do for gender equality and equity.
Today is often a celebration of women and a push for equality. I would challenge everyone now to look at how much you currently do as an ally or to uplift other women. How much does your club or organisation do?
Beyond the sharing of photos and an IWD post on social media, what else can be done? This is no shade to IWD posts at all. However, it is shade on social media posts marking IWD from organisations, clubs, bodies that then do very little to add gender equality.
A pledge to support gender equality is for life not just for the 8th March - something I take quite seriously in life and on this Substack.
Consider this brief post a call to action, what will you do in the 24 hours, 2 weeks, 6 months or 1 year after IWD? What will you give?
If you wish to support the work I do as female working within sport and female-centric coaching, please consider supporting this Substack.
There’s a subscription priced at £5 a month through Substack or you can buy me a one off coffee. These payment help me keep the content going.
